Hi folks,

Unfortunately the anticipated blessing from the landowner of Clanfield 702 was not forthcoming and as a result we have had to switch targets again; apologies for the very short notice.

The, hopefully final, target for the Spring NGLD in Hampshire is Rotherwick Byway 18 (SU715555 to SU720562) which is just north of Hook and Junction 5 of the M3. I checked out the lane today and it is well worthy of our attentions - very overgrown towards the northeast end and hard to get through on foot in some places never mind in a vehicle. The encroaching vegetation really does lend itself to attack with either a bow or long handled saw. Stout loppers may well be useful as well. I will bring up a selection of tools.

The plan is still to start at 10:00 at the site but this will mean that those meeting at Morrison's at Waterlooville will need to be there for 08:30 for an 09:45 departure, sorry about that.

We will meet about a third of the way up the lane from the southwest end by the farm and residential properties. There is a reasonable amount of parking space but please be careful not to park on the lawned areas outside the houses. Those of you who were thinking of driving the lane from the northeast end may care to think again; it is currently blocked by at least two fallen trees. You have been warned!

Apologies for the change of plan and thanks for hanging in there!

Patrick
